GERMANY – Surteco Group SE has announced the closure of its subsidiary, Dakor Melamin Imprägnierungen GmbH (Dakor), located in Heroldstatt.

The production of high-quality melamine impregnates for the furniture and interior design industries will cease on May 30, 2025.
Founded in 1995, Dakor has been a long-established manufacturer in the market and has been part of Surteco Group for several years. The closure comes after persistently challenging market conditions, compounded by the effects of European sanctions against Russia, which have significantly impacted sales volumes. As a result, the company determined that continuing operations at the site is no longer economically viable.
“This decision was not an easy one for us. Our focus now is on making the transition as smooth as possible for our employees, customers, and suppliers,” said Robert Vancko, Head of the Surfaces Business Unit at Surteco. “We would like to thank our long-standing partners for their trust and excellent cooperation.”
Surteco has committed to providing full support to the 73 employees affected by the closure. The works council is actively involved in the restructuring process, and management is working to ensure that a fair and transparent solution is found with the employees’ best interests in mind.
The company also reassured customers and suppliers that all existing obligations will be honored, and it will continue to uphold its high quality and service standards. Direct communication will be initiated with customers and suppliers to address any questions and discuss potential alternatives moving forward.
