COLOMBIA – According to 1Q-2016 data, Spain has become the main décor paper supplying country to Colombia, with shipments of USD 1.031.389 (2015: USD 739.158), an increase of 39.5% compared to 1Q-2015 and a 43% share of total Colombia decor paper imports in the period (2015: 27.6%).

This market gain by Spanish suppliers was achieved in a period where total Colombian segment imports dropped 10.2%, compared to first quarter 2015 reaching USD 2.400.632.

Germany, was the second supplier of décor papers for particleboard /MDP, MDF and HPL lamination to the Colombian market. In 1Q-2016 German shipments reached USD 457.341 compared to USD 930.107 in the same period 2015, a 50.8% decline. This considerable decrease in German shipments to the Colombian market is mainly due to an increase of shipments from Brazilian affiliate companies of German producers Schattdecor and Interprint. This is evident as Brazil became the third supplier to Colombia and the fastest growing, reaching USD 452,707 in the 1Q-2016 compared to USD 151,787 (+ 198.3%) and increasing its share of total Colombian décor papers imports from 5.7% in 1Q-2015 to 18.9% in 1Q-2016.
