GERMANY – Lebo GmbH, one of Germany’s oldest and most respected door manufacturers, has taken a decisive step toward digital transformation with the commissioning of a fully automated door production system developed with Bürkle.
Installed in a newly built hall at its Bocholt site, the system integrates all production stages — from raw material to finished door blank — into a single, seamless process.
This investment marks a strategic shift from traditional manual production islands to a centralized, digitally connected manufacturing model. The new Bürkle system allows for batch size one production with increased flexibility and reduced manpower.
“With this door system, we’ve strengthened our in-house capabilities in door blank manufacturing. The end-to-end automation of the Bürkle system lets us work more flexibly with fewer personnel,” said Thorsten Temminghoff, Plant Manager at Lebo.
Special emphasis was placed on efficient material flow, inline processing of different materials, and intelligent remnant management to maximize resource use. Notably, a unique bridge system now connects the new production hall with the existing facilities, ensuring optimal workflow and even serving as a cooling line.
Beyond the technological leap, the project required a complete overhaul of internal processes and data structures, pushing both Lebo and Bürkle teams toward intensive collaboration. “This was more than installing a modern production line — it was a full-scale transformation. The Lebo team’s openness and commitment made this a real partnership,” highlighted Heribert Tölle, Site and Project Manager at Bürkle.
Lebo’s automation project strengthens its position as a key player in the door industry, combining tradition, technological leadership, and a strong focus on sustainability with PEFC-certified materials and resource-efficient production methods.
