BELGIUM – Laminate flooring sales stabilized in 2024 following years of market fluctuations, with a slight decrease compared to 2023. Despite inflation and rising material costs, laminate flooring remains strong in the construction market.

Total sales by the European Producers of Laminate Flooring (EPLF) reached 313,459,786 m² in 2024, a 1.44% decrease from the previous year. This drop is significantly smaller than the 13.38% decline between 2023 and 2022. Main sales regions, including Western Europe (-2.74%) and Eastern Europe (-4.97%), saw slight decreases, while North America (+8.85%), Latin America (+8.51%), and Asia (+10.53%) showed positive growth.

In Western Europe, sales totaled 160,840,928 m². Countries like Turkey (+16.82%), Italy (+11.35%), and the Netherlands (+3.25%) saw increases, but major markets such as Germany (-2.40%), France (-7.38%), and the UK (-8.87%) experienced declines.

Eastern Europe also showed signs of recovery, with sales reaching 91,895,034 m², a 4.97% decrease compared to 2023. Sales in Russia dropped 14.75%, while Poland and Romania saw minor decreases or increases. Hungary, which experienced a significant drop in 2023, recorded a 5.12% rise in sales.

North America was one of the standout regions in 2024, with sales increasing 8.85%, totaling 23,521,002 m². Canada led with a 14.15% increase, while the US saw a 7.30% growth. Latin America also grew by 8.51%, with Chile standing out at +8.83%.

In Africa, sales grew by 16.95%, with notable gains in Egypt (+38.83%) and Morocco (+15.95%). Asia saw a 10.53% increase overall, although China and Kazakhstan experienced declines of 17.11% and 3.26%, respectively. Taiwan, however, showed remarkable growth at +74.09%.

Despite global economic and geopolitical challenges, such as the ongoing war in Ukraine, the laminate flooring industry has demonstrated strong resilience, with stability returning in many regions. The growing demand for housing, particularly in Europe, further strengthens the positive outlook for the market.

EPLF members remain committed to sustainability, affordability, and innovation, maintaining an optimistic medium- and long-term outlook for laminate flooring sales.
