SPAIN / BRAZIL – March was a month of great activity for décor printer Lamigraf. At its plant in La Ametlla del Vallés, Barcelona, it installed a new cylinder engraving unit and at its new plant in São José dos Pinhais, Parana, Brazil it held a grand opening event with clients, colleagues and industry personalities.
In Spain, the new Hell K5 Smart XXL engraving unit for rotogravure printing cylinders installed in the Ametlla del Vallés plant is at the forefront of engraving systems. The repetition control based on Celleye / Sprinteasy allows to guarantee the highest precision in the repetition of cylinders and the Xtreme system allows engraving very similar to the laser system, offering resolutions of up to 540l / cm with depths of 100μm, which extends the range of possibilities in the development of new designs.
It also has the capacity to adapt in the future the high performance engraving system HelioSprint III 12KHz currently under development, which would further increase the production capacity.
Furthermore in mid 2018 there will be an upgrade in the existing engraving units to also provide them with these improvements, which will increase engraving capacity by 35%. At the same time, a project is underway to update both the electronics and the development of proprietary software in the galvanization plant, which will increase production capacity by 20% and reduce energy consumption by more than 10%. The culmination of the renovation will arrive at the end of 2018 / beginning of 2019, with the purchase of a new polishing machine for the finishing of copper cylinders.
Meanwhile, on the American continent, Lamigraf held on March 20 the inaugural event of its new plant in São José dos Pinhais (PR). This plant, which started operations in August last year, replaces the company’s unit in Curitiba and doubles the printer’s production capacity in Brazil. It has a showroom and two 4-color printing lines and will be completed by the end of 2018 with the addition of a cylinder-engraving unit, which will make Lamigraf the only printer with engraving facilities in Latin America.
During the ceremony Josep Colomer, president and founder of the company, made the opening speech and remarked, “This is the definitive step for our stay in this country and for the projection to all of South America”.
The inauguration was attended by the Creative Director of Lamigraf, Enric Canet, who presented the new creative concept for 2018-2019 and the new trends analyzed by the company: Urban Harvest, Single Collective, Perfect Mess and Innovative Roots.
