GERMANY – The circular economy and biobased solutions will be the focus of interzum 2025, highlighting sustainable resource management in furniture production and interior design.
From May 20 to 23, 2025, the leading international trade fair will showcase various aspects of this theme at Cologne, featuring innovative products and concepts.
Organizers plan to expand on the “Neo-Ecology” concept from 2023. “With ‘Rethinking Resources: Circular and Biobased Solutions’ as the theme, interzum will address key pillars of neo-ecology,” explains Maik Fischer, Director of interzum. By combining circular economy principles with biobased materials, the fair aims to promote durable and sustainable product innovations.
The event will emphasize two key resource stewardship concepts: maintaining materials in the economic cycle through reuse and recycling, and utilizing biobased materials as eco-friendly alternatives to fossil fuels. Both approaches aim to minimize ecological footprints and enhance sustainability.
The event program will include discussions on innovative ideas and solutions. Exhibitors will present numerous products and concepts that align with the new theme. The Boulevard North will become the Rethinking Resources Boulevard, showcasing inspiring solutions for sustainable furniture production.
The interzum exhibition will once again be divided into three segments:
- Function & Components: Showcasing technologies that enhance energy efficiency, comfort, and convenience, including fittings and lighting systems.
- Materials & Nature: Featuring sustainable raw materials like wood, veneers, and laminates.
- Textile & Machinery: Presenting high-quality materials and innovative machinery for upholstery and mattress production.
This structure fosters collaboration across the value chain and provides clear orientation for exhibitors and visitors. Early registration levels are promising, underscoring interzum’s significance as a global industry event.
