USA – Hexion Inc., a global leader in adhesives and performance materials, has acquired Smartech, an AI-driven technology company specializing in autonomous manufacturing solutions.
This marks Hexion’s first acquisition in a decade and is a key move in the company’s strategy to transform manufacturing by leveraging AI and machine learning for improved production efficiency, cost reduction, sustainability, and product quality.

Smartech’s advanced technologies, including the award-winning SmartMDI system, use AI to optimize resin application in engineered wood production, reducing material costs, waste, and emissions. The integration of Smartech’s solutions with Hexion’s product offerings strengthens Hexion’s leadership in adhesives and building materials.
This acquisition supports Hexion’s ongoing transformation strategy under American Securities, which took ownership in 2022, positioning the company for long-term growth and market leadership. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Smartech will continue to operate independently, servicing its current customer base.
