GERMANY – The Hettich Group, a global leader in furniture fittings headquartered in Kirchlengern, Germany, has reinforced its climate commitment by joining the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
With this move, Hettich pledges to set clear, science-based targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in alignment with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
“In line with our motto ‘Act today, think tomorrow,’ we at Hettich recognize our responsibility toward the environment and future generations,” stated Timo Pieper, Managing Director of Hettich. “Joining the SBTi marks an important milestone in our sustainability journey.”
Hettich’s climate roadmap includes cutting Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 50% by 2030, transitioning to 90% renewable electricity, and working closely with suppliers to reduce Scope 3 emissions across the value chain.
“This initiative is a significant step forward,” added Pavan Jha, Hettich’s Sustainability Manager. “By setting science-based targets, we can effectively lower our carbon footprint, foster innovation, and make a meaningful contribution to global climate protection.”
The SBTi is a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). It provides companies with a recognized framework and independent verification for setting transparent, science-driven emission reduction targets aimed at limiting global warming to 1.5°C.
Hettich’s commitment was officially announced at its annual press conference, underscoring its dedication to sustainable business practices and environmental leadership.
