GERMANY – Hettich received the “Best place to learn” quality label from Aubi-plus GmbH for apprenticeship training.
The furniture hardware company stated, “Attracting, fostering and keeping talented and motivated young staff is among the challenges facing many businesses today. Tremendous importance is attached to training young people at Hettich.”
To determine the quality of training, 194 employees were surveyed at Hettich who are currently involved in apprenticeship training. These include the instructors, second and third year apprentices as well as apprentices who have completed their training. They gave their personal ratings for 54 quality criteria. “We are delighted to receive the ‘Best place to learn’ accolade because it is a conclusive indication to applicants gathering information on companies offering apprenticeship training. At the same time, the results draw our attention to aspects we can still optimize. For us, this certification is also an opportunity to continuously review and improve in-company training”, says Dirk Bartz, head of education.
Hettich offers apprenticeships in 14 occupations, of which four can be done on the commercial side and ten on the technical side. “Next year at the Kirchlengern operation we will be offering 53 technical apprenticeships, that’s 16 more than in 2016. In particular, we would like to see more applicants for the occupations of process mechanic, tool mechanic and cutting machine operator”, Dirk Bartz says.
Hettich is currently training 260 young people. “We attach importance to modern and high quality training. It is equally important to us to identify and foster the skills and potentials of apprentices so that we can offer them attractive prospects once they have completed their training”, Dr. Andreas Hettich says.
