GERMANY – In addition to the central warehouse in Nagold, the hardware specialist opened a new distribution center in Lehrte, near Hannover.
Häfele’s customers in Northern Germany as well as neighboring countries in Northern Europe will enjoy shorter delivery times and better service from Häfele’s new distribution center. With the commissioning of the logistics center in Lehrte, which has a storage area of 19,600 square meters, Haefele can now operate with double capacity and greater speed throughout Europe. The logistics center currently manages more than 25,000 items from the Häfele range and, with its generously dimensioned surface, is designed for growth up to the year 2025.
Decisive criteria for the selection of the location not far from the capital of Lower Saxony were, according to Häfele, the short distances to the north, the optimal accessibility and transport links. Another crucial factor was that Lehrte already had additional logistics service providers in the immediate vicinity and Häfele had been running a sales office in Hanover for many years.
According to company director Sibylle Thierer, this investment not only gives Häfele a starting signal for the further expansion of its services and assortments in Germany and neighboring European countries. With the new distribution center in Lehrte, the Nagolder company has now opened the 53rd logistics location worldwide and invested part of the double-digit million amount that will flow into Häfele’s Europe strategy. For Lehrte, new logistics concepts were developed to ensure a faster process and serve as a prototype for the distribution centers in other countries in the future.
