BELGIUM – The laminate flooring industry’s sales in 2023 continue to be influenced by the construction sector’s downward trend, following a challenging year in 2022. Despite facing a decline due to inflation, rising material costs, and decreased demand, the sector remains confident in the market’s future prospects.
In Western Europe, sales decreased by -7.65% (165.379.999 m² sold), with notable increases in Turkey, Ireland, and Belgium. Eastern Europe faced a harsher decline of -10.25% (96.705.775 m² sold), with Poland and Hungary experiencing significant setbacks.
North America saw a notable decline of -42.04%, with Latin America also experiencing a decrease of -33.76%. Africa, Oceania, and Asia faced declines as well.
The construction market’s challenges, including inflation and rising costs, have led to a halt in building and renovation activities. However, long-term projections indicate significant opportunities for laminate flooring as construction and renovation are expected to increase in the coming years. Laminate flooring, known for its sustainability and affordability, remains a viable option for consumers.
Despite short-term market difficulties, EPLF members are optimistic about future sales, confident in the medium and long-term prospects of the industry.
