FIMMA + Maderalia 2024 with Emphasis on Timber Construction

SPAIN - The Spanish trade exhibition FIMMA + Maderalia has partnered with consultancy World Wood Future (WWF) to orchestrate a series of initiatives not only promoting timber construction but also advocating for a shift in the social, economic, and environmental paradigm.

1061FIMMAThe goal is to position wood as a pivotal element in sustainable and natural materials.

A central initiative in this collaboration is the construction of a fully wooden house, named the 'Mediterranean Hábitat Modular House,' spanning 140m2. This project aims to showcase the myriad possibilities offered by wood and wood-derived products for contemporary living. The house will illustrate the material's construction properties, insulation capabilities, versatility, durability, strength, reduced build times, and its lower carbon footprint compared to alternative materials.

To complement this endeavor, FIMMA + Maderalia plans to conduct technical presentations and workshops on wood construction, led by the companies providing materials for the house. Educational sessions by specialists will delve into construction techniques and the technical attributes of the materials used in the 'Mediterranean Hábitat Modular House.'

Emphasizing timber construction as a central theme for the upcoming 40th edition of FIMMA + Maderalia (scheduled for May 14-17, 2024, at Feria Valencia), the event will include the 'València Open Wood' initiative, featuring technical guided visits to various wooden structures near Feria Valencia. Additionally, a 'Wood Cocktail' event will bring industry professionals together in a relaxed setting within the 'Mediterranean Hábitat Modular House.'

FIMMA + Maderalia aspires to serve as a platform for reimagining timber construction, drawing professionals such as architects, specifiers, developers, carpenters, and builders to engage in discussions and explore innovative ideas.
