CHILE - Creating compact, diverse, accessible and sustainable cities is one of the main challenges facing the world today.

Cities such as Amsterdam and Helsinki have shown that the competition to generate green awareness on a large scale has opened an important path towards this goal.

Fernando Marcone, Arauco's assistant manager of wood construction, points out that "wood construction is no longer just a trend but has become a reality. The world is moving towards more sustainable development models and in Chile we cannot be left behind, on the contrary, we have to take advantage of the potential of our forests to change the construction paradigm in an accelerated manner". For this reason, he explains that as a company they are seeking to generate a culture of wood, from the care of the forests to the responsible consumption of current and future products made of this material.

To respond to this trend that is gaining strength in Chile and the region, Arauco - through the HILAM brand - has a business unit dedicated to marketing and developing engineered wood products that come from forests managed responsibly under FSC standards.
