Colombian Woodworking Machinery Imports Down 32.6% in 2022

COLOMBIA - Colombian imports of European machinery for secondary wood processing (wood-based panels) reached USD 5.57 million in 2022. This represented a significant drop of 32.6% compared to the previous year (2021: USD 8.26 million).

1028COLOMBIAThe main supplier of European wood panel processing technology to the Colombian market in 2022 was the Homag Group of Germany with USD 2.0 million, which represented a sharp drop of 40.1 percent compared to 2021 (USD 3.34 million). In 2022 the Homag Group's share of total imports was 35.9 percent, down from 40.5 percent in 2021 .

Italy's SCM Group, was the second largest supplier of European composite wood processing machinery to the Colombian market in 2022 with USD 1.10 million, which represented a slight drop of 3.4 percent, compared to 2021. In 2022, the SCM Group's share of total imports was 19.8 percent, compared to 13.8 percent in 2021.

Italian vertical saw manufacturer Putsch Meniconi was the third largest European supplier of wood processing machinery to the Colombian market with USD 752 thousand in 2022. A stron drop of 48.7 percent compared to 2021 (USD 1.46 million).

The main importers of European wood processing machinery to the Colombian market in 2022 were Madecentro (USD 2.45 million), Sierras y Equipos (USD 1.0 million) and Cubrecol (USD 793 thousand).
