Colombian Furniture Exports Up 34.6% in 1Q-2022

COLOMBIA - Colombian wood furniture exports maintained a strong level of growth in 1Q-2022. They went from USD12.1 million in the first quarter 2021 (1Q-2021) to USD16.2 million in 1Q-2022, a growth of 34.6%.

984COLOMBIARTA Muebles, the country's main exporter and manufacturer of wood furniture, continued to lead this improvement with exports of USD 6.6 million , 29.3 percent above what they exported in 1Q-2021 (USD 5.1 million) and a 40.5 percent share of Colombian wood furniture exports in 1Q-2022.

Industria de Muebles del Valle (INVAL) despite a 19.8 percent drop in exports in 1Q-2022, continues to consolidate its position as the second largest exporter with USD 1.8 million (1Q-2021: USD 2.2 million). This is equivalent to 11.2 percent of Colombian wood furniture exports in 1Q-2022.

Maderkit, stood out with the highest growth among the top three exporting companies, going from USD 676 thousand in 1Q-2021 to USD 1.0 million in 1Q-2022, an improvement of 48.8 percent.

In 1Q-2022, the United States was again the main destination for Colombian wood furniture exports. The segment's shipments to the U.S. totaled USD 6.2 million, an increase of 51.5 percent compared to 1Q-2021 (USD 4.1 million).

Chile was the second largest export market for Colombian wood furniture in the period with USD 2.2 million, despite falling 12.6 percent compared to 1Q-2021 (USD 2.5 million).
