ITALY - The year 2021 was very positive for Italian manufacturers of technologies for the wood and furniture industry processing according to Acimall, the association of Italian manufacturers of wood and furniture technology.

Production amounted to EUR 2,530 million, up by 36.9% compared to 2020, and by 11.6 percent compared to 2019.

Excellent results also for machinery and technology export, reaching EUR 1,740 million an increase of 30.8% compared to 2020 and of 10.1% over 2019.

The domestic market reached EUR 790 million, up by 52.5 % over 2020 and 15.1% over 2019.

Italian imports of wood processing machinery and technology also considerably increased, reaching EUR 244 million, 59.4% more than 2020 and 21.4% more than 2019.

According to tradition, driven by the strong propensity to export of Italian companies, the trade balance was also positive, with a value of EUR 1,496 million up by 27.1% compared to 2020 and  8.5% over 2019. Apparent consumption increased to EUR 1,034 million, 54.1% over 2020 and 16.5% over 2019.

The top 5 export markets for Italian wood processing technology in 2021 were the United States with EUR 164.2 million, an improvement of 13.9% over 2020, followed by France with EUR 118.2 million, plus 10.3 percent compared to 2020, Poland with EUR 110.6 million, up by 34 percent compared to 2020, Germany with EUR 106.3 million, up by 11 percent compared to 2020 and the United Kingdom with EUR 81.3 million, plus 56%.
