ECUADOR - Ecuadorian imports of European machinery and technology for the secondary transformation of wood panels reached USD 1.79 million in 2020. This figure represents an increase of 14.4 percent compared to imports of USD 1.56 million in 2019.
Italian board processing technology continues to lead in the Ecuadorian market. Under the SCM, Biesse and Putsch Meniconi brands, Italy supplied 65 percent of the machinery imported in 2020 by Ecuador's panel processing industry.
The main supplying company was the SCM Group of Italy with shipments of machinery and technology to the Ecuadorian market in 2020 for USD 741.3 thousand. An increase of 103.4 percent compared to USD 364.5 thousand in 2019.
The second European supplier of machinery for wood panels to the Ecuadorian market in 2020 was the Homag Group of Germany with shipments for USD 331.5 thousand (2019: USD 192.1 thousand), a growth of 72.5 percent compared to the previous year.
They were followed by the Biesse Group from Italy (USD 315.5 thousand), German Weinig/Holzher Group (USD 174.9 thousand), Putsch Meniconi from Italy (USD 106.4 thousand) and Spanish Cehisa (USD 102.3 thousand).
The main importers of machinery and European technology for wood panels were Novopan del Ecuador, Virutex Andina, Imporquivi, Mueble Facil and Madetec.
