GERMANY – Koelnmesse, organizer of Orgatec, the world's leading trade fair for office and facility, announced the suspension of this year’s edition.

The next regularly scheduled Orgatec will be held from 25 to 29 October 2022 in Cologne, in the accustomed size and level of internationality. None the less, the world’s top trade fair organizer for the areas of furnishing is joining the industry in search of solutions to present the topics of Orgatec at an international level in the coming months.

The situation of this trade fair increasingly began to reflect current developments around COVID-19 and the economic situation as a large majority of exhibitors and trade visitors decided not to attend. In light of this, Koelnmesse reassessed the overall situation and decided that it was best to respond to the cancellations and wishes of a large number of industry exhibitors and trade visitors by not implementing Orgatec 2020.

The organizers, however, do not want to be discouraged by this setback and immediately set their sights back on the future. Together with industry, and under the rubric of events in the Koelnmesse furnishings portfolio, such as imm cologne (18-24 January 2021), opportunities are being sought to realize formats developed with partners from the sector as soon as possible and in a new form.

The Koelnmesse furnishings portfolio includes imm cologne, LivingKitchen, Orgatec, spoga+gafa, interzum and Kind + Jugend rank, which take place at the Cologne fair grounds. The international portfolio includes idd Shanghai, interzum bogotá in Bogotá, interzum guangzhou in Guangzhou and Pueri Expo in Sao Paulo. Furthermore, with ambista, the online portal for the interiors business, Koelnmesse offers direct access to products, contacts, expertise and events relevant to the industry all year round.
