CSIL publishes second edition of the Furniture Outlook for Latin America and the Caribbean

ITALY - With almost 640 million inhabitants, the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean have a total furniture consumption exceeding USD 16 billion.

873CSILBrazil, a large furniture consumer ranking 12th at a global level, is the main market of the area, followed by Mexico and Chile.

Currently, there are 71 metropolitan areas in Latin America and the Caribbean with a population of more than 1 million inhabitants. Urbanization continues to be rapid and large urban areas will be the engine of economic growth, with important implications for future increases in furniture consumption.

Around 30% of the furniture consumed in Latin America and the Caribbean is imported. Furniture imports in the area is growing and amounts to around USD 4.5 billion. The major importing countries are Mexico, Panama, Brazil and Chile.
