ECUADOR - Ecuadorian particleboard/ MDP exports exceeded USD 9.6 million in September 2019, a strong growth of 14.6 percent compared to the same month last year.

In the first nine months of this year (9M-2019), Ecuadorian PB / MDP exports grew 4.1 percent reaching USD 93.64 million (9M-2018: USD 89.96 million).

The main external market for Ecuadorian PB / MDP in September was once again Colombia with shipments for more than USD 5.48 million to the neighboring country, an important increase of 8.5 percent compared to September 2018 (USD 5.06 million).

In September Peru was the second market in importance for Ecuadorian PB / MDP, with purchases of USD 3.39 million and a strong growth of 18.9 percent compared to the same month of 2018 when shipments pf Ecuadorian MDP reached USD 2.86 million.

While in Colombia there is local PB / MDP manufacture by Duratex Colombia and Primadera, in Peru national production is non-existent since the closure of Tableros Peruanos S.A. (Tapesa) in early 2017.
