ECUADOR - Ecuadorian imports of Particleboard/MDP (PB/MDP) grew 46.5% in the first four months of 2019 (4M-2019) reaching USD 6.78 million compared to USD 4.63 million in 4M-2018.
Brazil consolidated its position as the main PB/MDP external supplying country to the Ecuadorian market with USD 5.17 million in 4M-2019 compared to USD 2.49 million in 4M-2018 for an important increase of 107%. Brazil’s share of total Ecuadorian imports of PB/MDP reached 76.2% in 4M-2019 compared to 53.9% in 4M-2018.
Chile was the second supplying country to Ecuador in 4M-2019 with USD 1.06 million followed by Spain (USD 266 thousand) and Colombia (USD 219 thousand).
The main supplying company to the Ecuadorian market was Berneck of Brazil with USD 3.83 million in 4M-2019 and an increase of 107% compared to 4M-2018. Followed by Brazilian Duratex with USD 1.29 million in 4M-2019, up 54.7% from USD 837 thousand in 4M-2018 and Chilean Masisa with USD 1.06 in 4M-2019 down 35.2% from 4M-2018 (USD 1.64 million).
Novopan del Ecuador was the main Ecuadorian importing company and also the fastest growing importer going from USD 1.30 million in 4M-2018 to USD 3.49 million in 4M-2019, a very strong increase of 168.8%. Masisa Ecuador was the second importing company with USD 1.06 million compared to USD 1.68 million in 4M-2018 (-35.1%).
Imporquivi with an important growth of 167.2% was the the third largest importing company with USD 875 thousand in 4M-2019 compared to USD 327 thousand in the same period 2018.
