PERU - In the period January - September of 2018 (9M-2018) Peruvian imports of particleboard (PB) / MDP amounted to USD 77.3 million, which represented a strong increase of 30.1% compared to the same period of 2017 (9M-2017: USD 59.4 million).

With a significant increase of 26.6% and USD 29.87 million ((9M-2017: USD 23.61 million), Ecuador stood out in 9M-2018 as the main particleboard / MDP supplier country to the important Peruvian market. Followed by Chile, with USD 23.41 million ((9M-2017: USD 19.48 million).

With a growth of 61.8%, Spain was the supplier country that grew the most in the period, reaching USD 12.56 (9M-2017: USD 7.76) and surpassing Brazil, that with USD 10.66 million came in as the third supplier country to the Peruvian market.

The main importer in 9M-2018 was again Novopan Peru, with USD 29.17 million (9M-2017: USD 22.54 million). This represents a strong increase of 29.4% and a 37.7% share of total imports of particleboard / MDP in the country in the period, a slight decrease of 0.2 percentage points compared to 9M-2017 (37.9%).

Representaciones Martin followed with USD 12.04 million, which represented a remarkable growth of 61.7% and a share of 15.6% over total particleboard imports in the period (9M-2017: 12.5%).

Interforest was the company whose imports fell the most, going from USD 3.72 million reached in 9M-2017 to USD 3.39 million in 9M-2018 (-8.8%).
