Forestry Sector will be part of FIMMA Brazil 2019

BRASIL - The commitment to provide more and more positive experiences to exhibitors and visitors at the International Fair of Machines, Raw Materials and Accessories for the Furniture Industry (FIMMA Brazil) 2019 motivated its board to create spaces for other segments, including the forestry industry.

810FIMMA1With great business potential, the forestry industry will have an exclusive indoor area consisting of 900 square meters in pavilion B and 825 square meters in an outdoor area during the 14th FIMMA Brazil, which will take place from March 26 to 29. The initiative will present cutting edge technologies and processes for the forestry industry, taking advantage of the economic upturn of the domestic market and the good performance of exports.

The Boletim Cenários Ibá, a bulletin produced by the Brazilian Tree Industry (Ibá), indicated a 34% increase in the exports of the planted forest-based sector in the first half of 2018, representing USD 5.5 billion traded abroad, showing a growth in trade with other countries: pulp (+ 43.9%), wood panels (+ 8.0%) and paper (+ 5.7%).

The forestry activity and the production chain associated with it are characterized by a great diversity of products, comprising a set of activities and segments that include everything from the production to the transformation of non-processed wood into pulp, paper, wood panels, laminated floors, sawn wood, charcoal and furniture, in addition to non-timber products.

Consolidated brands in the segment have already confirmed their presence at FIMMA Brazil 2019, as well as associations, such as the Center of Timber Production and Exporters Companies of the State of Mato Grosso (Cipem) and the Association of Forestry Companies of RS (Ageflor). According to Diogo Carlos Leuck, president of Ageflor, the opening of doors by FIMMA Brazil 2019 to the forestry-based industry is very important. “The forestry segment is promising and we are ready for it. Brazil has the geo-climatic conditions, since it takes us one third less time for forest production compared to European countries. The goal of the Federal Government is to increase by 30% the forest area in Brazil by 2020,” he explains.
