Peruvian Particleboard Imports Up 11% in 2017

PERU - In 2017, Peruvian imports of PB / MDP reached USD 83.6 million, an increase of 11.0% compared to 2016 (USD75.3 million).

767PERUEcuador finished 2017 as the main supplier country of PB / MDP to the important Peruvian market, with a 38.9% share of total imports, equivalent to USD 32.6 million; followed by Chile with a 33.2% share equivalent to USD 27.7 million, Spain with 14.3% (USD 12 million) and Brazil with 13% (USD 11 million) of total imports in 2017.

The main importer in 2017 was again Novopan Peru with a stable USD 31.3 million (2016: USD 31.3 million) and a 37.4% share of total imports of PB / MDP in the country. Arauco Peru followed with imports of USD 16.2 million (2016: USD 15.2 million) and a share of 19.4% of total imports; in third place came Grupo Martin with USD 11.4 million (2016: USD 9 million) and 13.6% share of total imports; Masisa Peru with USD 11 million (2016: USD 9.8 million) and 13.1% of the total, and Interforest with USD 5.4 million (2016: 2.8 million), which represented 6.5% of total imports and the highest growth in the year (96.9%) among the main importing companies. Interforest operates Castor, a retail chain specialized in supplies for the wood and wood working industry.
