SPAIN - The National Association of Furniture Manufacturers and Exporters of Spain - ANIEME - organized from May 30 to June 3 a trade mission to Chile and Colombia.

This action aims to promote business contacts with importers and specifiers which help to consolidate the presence of Spanish furniture in Chile and Colombia, both at the retail level as through the channel contract for the furnishing of facilities.

The seven companies that participated in the mission, accompanied by ANIEME’s technical staff were: Discalsa, García Sabaté, Trasman, Mobil Fresno, Valenti, Alondra Infantil and Montero. Meetings with Chilean entrepreneurs took place on 30 and 31 May in Santiago. The group then travelled to Colombia, and held interviews with importers and specifiers in Bogota and Medellin on June 2 and 3.

According to Association, Chile and Colombia, present business opportunities for Spanish companies, mainly in the medium-high and high market segments, and also in the contract channel. ANIEME´s President, Juan Carlos Munoz, stated, "Spanish companies should diversify sales to new destinations that offer interesting business opportunities in the short and medium term, such as certain Latin American markets. Countries like Panama, Mexico, Peru, Colombia and Chile, among others, enjoy increasingly sound economies and economic growth in an area with huge potential for Spanish furniture." He added, "The quality and design of Spanish furniture is appreciated in Latin America and certainly meets the quality standards required for real estate projects to be carried out over the next few years. Design culture is developing more and more, so it is a good time to enter both markets and start creating a brand image, both for the country and for Spanish Furniture."
