Brazil doubles its MDF exports to Peru in 2015

PERU – In 2015 Brazil surpassed Turkey as the second main supplying country of MDF to the Peruvian market with USD 4.6 million (2014: 2.3 million), the highest growth compared to 2014 (+106.5%) and a gain of 10.9 percentage points of total import share.

The main supplying companies were Duratex and Berneck.

Chile, through the Arauco and Masisa affiliates in Peru, maintained its position as the main supplying country with USD 16.6 million compared to USD 24.1 million in 2014 (-31.1%), a loss of 9.2 percentage points of total imports share. The Arauco and Masisa affiliates maintained their positions as the top two MDF importers in Peru, with USD 11.2 million and USD 5.8 million respectively, but both companies experienced an important drop compared to 2014. Arauco Peru’s imports of MDF dropped 32.4% (2014: USD 16.6 million) and Masisa Peru’s imports fell 18.4%. Among the main importers, local Grupo Martin recorded the highest growth reaching USD 3.4 million compared to USD 2.9 million in 2014 (+16.5%).
