ARGENTINA – Starting next year FIMAR, the Argentine International Furniture Fair, will hold two meetings. The traditional expo of Córdoba, which will take place from 20 to 22 April 2016 in the Forja Fairgrounds, and a second annual event, that will be held from August 17 to 20 at La Rural Fairgrounds in Buenos Aires.
The aim of the organizers with these two versions is to cover the entire Argentine market and gather most of the leaders of the more than 600 mass furniture producers in the country.
“Following the consolidation of FIMAR in Cordoba and the region and the steady growth year after year, both in exhibitors and visitors, as well of business deals, we are committed to embrace and represent the entire national market. For which we decided to go for more and double our bet with a second annual meeting in Buenos Aires”, said Gustavo Viano, Chairman of the FIMAR Executive Committee.
The event of Cordoba as well as the new Buenos Aires show will cover an exhibition area of ten thousand square meters each. And both editions will reserve a preferential space for SMA – the Argentine Furniture Exhibit, now in its third edition. SMA is an exhibition space for new designers and entrepreneurs to showcase their products and come in contact with wholesale furniture buyers and large volume manufacturers. To market their pieces, exhibitors present either prototypes or small serial items, which are exhibited together with renowned pieces of Argentine furniture.
As for the Business Rounds planned for the two shows, organizers expect to double the number of meetings between the major operators in the sector, with the participation of manufacturers and home furnishing retailers from the north and the south of Argentina. “In the last ten years and as a result of barriers to imports, among other economic policies, the domestic furniture industry registers constant growth. Currently the amount of locally produced furniture can supply the entire domestic demand and has the installed industrial capacity and is prepared to export again to the most demanding markets. FIMAR reflects this activity and we aim to continue supporting the Argentine players”, said the Mr. Viano.
The official launch of both events will take place on October 15 at 19:00 at the Sheraton Cordoba Hotel. FIMAR Cordoba and Buenos Aires are organized by the Chamber of Wood, Furniture and Equipment of Cordoba, the Chamber of Wood and Related Products of Rio Cuarto, the Chamber of Wood and Related Products of San Francisco and the Chamber of the Wood Industry and Related Products of Cañada de Gómez.
