Strong increase in Ecuadorian woodworking machinery imports

ECUADOR – Ecuadorian imports of European woodworking machinery reached USD 3.66 million in the first seven months of 2018, more than tripling machinery imports in the same period of 2017.

801ECUADOR The German Homag Group was the main supplier of woodworking machinery to the Ecuadorian market in the first seven months of 2018 with USD 1,442,718. Followed by Italian Biesse Group with USD 602,307 compared to USD 83,734 in the same period 2017 for an increase of 619.3%.

SCM Group with shipments of USD 590,607 compared with USD 319,395 shipped in the same period 2017 (+84.9%) was the third supplier. Followed by Putsch Meniconi of Italy with shipments of USD 510,651 and Austrian Holzher with USD 265,551.

The top importers in the first seven months of 2018 were Edimca with USD 1,232,468 that represented 33.6% of total machinery imports, Cevallos Cuesta Jaime with USD 602,307 and 16.4% of total imports, Masisa Ecuador with USD 590,651 (16.1%), Novopan del Ecuador with USD 510,651 (13.9%) and Hermaprove with USD 265,551 (7.2%).

The main woodworking machinery supplying countries to the Ecuadorian market in the seven month period were Italy with shipments of USD 1,536,799 and a 41.8% share of total imports; Germany with USD 1,232,468 (33.6%) and Austria with USD 340,053 (9.2%).
