COLOMBIA – Colombian imports of European machinery for wood processing (panels) reached USD 3.6 million in the first seven months of 2019 (7M-2019).
This figure represented a sharp fall of 35.1 percent when compared to the USD 5.5 million recorded in the same period of 2018.
The leading supplier, although with a very strong fall of 41.6 percent, was the Homag Group. In 7M-2019 the German manufacturer shipped panel processing machinery for USD 1.19 million to the Colombian market compared to USD 2.04 million in the same period of 2018.
Italian Putsch Meniconi was the second supplier in 7M-2019 with USD 595 (7M-2018: USD 562 thousand), and a growth of 5.7 percent.
The SCM Group, also Italian, was the third supplier of woodworking machinery in the important Colombian market in 7M-2019 with USD 585 thousand. SCM was the supplier with the biggest drop, compared to the USD 1.49 million reached in 7M-2018 (-60.8%).
The Italian Biesse Group was the fourth largest supplier of European machinery to the Colombian market with USD 359 thousand in 7M-2019 (7M-2018: USD 664 thousand), which represented a notable drop of 45.9 percent.
Among the main suppliers, there is also a growth of 56 percent achieved by the Italian manufacturer of edge-banders Fravol, which reached USD 168 thousand in 7M-2019 (7M-2018: USD 107 thousand).
