INDONESIA –    Indonesia’s largest MDF producer, Sumatera Prima Fibreboard (SPF), has entered the particleboard market with the purchase of a complete CEBRO particleboard and Super PB plant from Dieffenbacher for its Indralaya site near Palembang, South Sumatra.

The order includes glue preparation and dosing systems, gluing, forming station and forming line, a CPS+ continuous press, raw board handling, and the latest MAIER flaking and milling technology: three MAIER MRZ 1500 PLUS Knife Ring Flakers with FlowOptimizer, a fully automatic Knife Ring Maintenance Center, and two MAIER Impact Mills.

SPF Operational Director Michael Pribadi said his visit to Dieffenbacher’s Eppingen headquarters confirmed the high performance of the new MAIER technology. “These investments place us at the forefront of flake-processing technology and support our goal of operational excellence,” he said.

The MRZ 1500 PLUS features a compact design, 3D material distribution, an extra-wide knife ring, and automated heavy-particle separation, with key performance parameters monitored in real time. The Knife Ring Maintenance Center automates inspection, cleaning, sharpening and adjustment, improving board quality and reducing production costs.

The project builds on SPF’s long-standing relationship with Dieffenbacher. Earlier upgrades in 2017 and 2020—replacing sifters with Z-Sifters—significantly reduced energy consumption and improved board quality.

The new plant, with an annual capacity of 478,500 m³, is now under assembly in Indralaya. Commissioning is scheduled for late 2026.
