SPAIN (Notifix.) – From 15 to 19 July, the Spanish Business Confederation of Wood (CONFEMADERA HABITAT) organized with the support of the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX) a direct trade mission to Colombia. This activity is part of the 2013 Wood Products Sector Export Plan.

In this mission, participating companies from the Spanish wood and furniture sector, aimed to establish the basis for positioning the Spanish trade in this territory and establish new business relationships with potential clients.

The timber industry has experienced extensive growth in recent years in Colombia, a market where products from different backgrounds, uses and manufacturing systems can be found. As for the Spanish furniture, the mission found that their products enjoy a good image, associated with good quality and design.

Colombia offers a privileged geographical location in the center of the Americas. With 47.5 million inhabitants its GDP per capita has continued to grow in recent years, from USD 5,826 in 2000 to the current USD 9,920.

According to Pedro Martinez, of Siero Wood SA, “we made a first approach to the Colombia market with this trade mission. After visits to several companies we expect to be able to start working there. I would like to highlight the work of CONFEMADERA HABITAT in organizing agendas. We have been fortunate to work with a strong team.”
