SPAIN – In the first four months of 2019, Spanish furniture exports reached EUR 736.2 million, which represents an increase of 5.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Furniture exports to the three main markets, France, Portugal and Germany, accounted for 49.5% of total Spanish furniture exports. France remains the main export destination of Spanish furniture, with a high percentage of the total exported (29.1%) and a growth of 13.1% in the period.
In the first four months of 2019, the growth of exports to Portugal (+ 24.9%), Germany (+ 9.3%), Italy (+ 18.3%) and Morocco (+ 5.1%) stood out.
By contrast, during the first four months of the year Spanish exports to the United States and the United Kingdom decreased by 4.8% and 10% respectively.
On the other hand, Spanish imports of furniture increased by 1.5% in the period January-April 2019. China continues to be the main supplier of imported furniture in Spain, with 22.7% of the total imported in the period (EUR 1,062.6 million) and a growth of 14% in this period.
