GERMANY – As reported by EUWID, and according to figures from the Association of German Furniture Industry (VDM, for its acronym in German), last March Germany increased by 10.1% its foreign purchases over the same month of 2014.
German imports of kitchen furniture have recorded the biggest increase. In March, the kitchen furniture category experienced an increase of 27.1%. Imports of office furniture also rose prominently, by 23.8%, while commercial furniture was up 18.6%.
Foreign purchases of upholstered furniture were boosted by 18.4% and bedroom furniture and dining room furniture grew 12.4%. The category of miscellaneous furniture recorded a rise of 19.6%. By contrast, mattresses imports fell 16.8%.
