Significant Drop in Brazilian Particleboard exports in 9M-2023

BRAZIL – BRAZIL – The value of Brazilian particleboard (PB/MDP) exports in the first nine months of 2023 (9M-2023) amounted to USD 57.85 million. This figure represented a substantial decline of 38.2% when compared to the USD 93.55 million exported in the same period of the previous year.

1057BRASIL In the 9M-2023 period, Brazilian exports of PB/MDP to China, amounting to USD 13.34 million, saw a dramatic drop of 52.8%, still China maintained its postion as the main export market for brazilian particleboard.

In 9M-2023, Peru, the second export market in importance for Brazilian PB/MDP  witnessed a 40.1% decrease, with shipments totaling USD 12.97 million, compared to USD 21.66 million in 9M-2022.

Bolivia remained the third most important foreign market for Brazilian particleboard in 9M-2023, with a total of USD 11.36 million, marking a 9.4% decrease compared to 9M-2022 (USD 12.54 million).

Rio Grande Do Sul surpassed Santa Catarina and was the main Brazilian PB/MDP exporting state during 9M-2023, with a total of USD 23.65 million, bettering Santa Catarina’s exports of USD 19.13 million. Followed by  Sao Paulo, which experienced  growth of 7.7%, increasing from USD 10.64 million in 9M-2022 to USD 11.46 million in 9M-2023.
