U.S. – Sales of kitchen and bathroom cabinets in the US rose 1.8% year-on-year in February.
A significant increase was recorded, especially for custom-made cabinets (+11.3%), according to the monthly survey of the US trade association KCMA and its approximately 300 member companies. For standard products, the growth was 1.6%. By contrast, sales of semi-custom cabinets fell slightly by 0.4%.
Cumulatively over the first two months of the current year, sales of kitchen and bathroom cabinets in the US decreased by 0.6%. Thus, the 3.2% decline recorded in January was not fully offset despite the better performance in February.
Sales of custom-made cabinets (-12.2%) decreased significantly in January. Sales of standard products (-5%) also declined. Only with partly custom-made cabinets (+1.8%), a plus could be achieved. In the accumulated period, declines in standard (-1.6%) and bespoke cabinets (-0.6%) were offset by a slight increase in cabinets made to order (+0.6%).
According to KCMA, the companies participating in the survey represent around 70% of the US kitchen and bathroom furniture market.
