Profit of Ecuador’s main woodworking and furniture companies down 38.3% in 2015

ECUADOR – According to the annual ranking of the Top 1000 Ecuadorian Companies published by Ekos Magazine, profits of companies of the Woodworking and Furniture segment dropped 38.3% in 2015 as they reached USD 25.1 million compared to USD 40.7 million in 2014.

ecuador ranking 1000 201608 Of the companies that made the Top 1000 ranking, only Empresas Durini (EDIMCA), a network of specialty stores for construction, woodworking and the furniture industry, and board manufacturer Aglomerados Cotopaxi (ACOSA), were able to improve profits during 2015. The companies most affected by a drop in profit were plywood manufacturer Botrosa (-227.9%), followed by furniture retailers Muebles el Bosque (-91.5%) and Colineal (-52.3%).

Ecuador´s largest wood panel manufacturer Novopan was again the leader in 2015 among the listed companies of the Woodworking and Furniture segment, with sales of USD 120.4 million (2014: USD 122.3 million). Although Novopan’s sales were down only by 1.5% against 2014, profits for the company were down by 39.7% in 2015 against the previous year.
