COLOMBIA – Preliminary data for Expocamacol, the biennial trade fair of the construction industry held in Medellin, Colombia, are quite positive. The fair, which closed its doors on Saturday 27 August, reported in its first two days 167 million dollars in business prospects according to a preliminary assessment. This dynamism allows for an outlook of between USD 250 and USD 300 million in business prospects by the fair’s end.
Meanwhile, as the second day ends, ProColombia, it reports that its trade mission of 200 buyers from 25 countries, 60% of them new buyers, already closed deal for the amount of USD 9 million. “The 200 buyers invited by ProColombia described the supply of building materials as innovative, design oriented and diverse. Non-traditional markets such as Ghana that came for the first time, found in Colombia partners for the development of their projects,” said Juliana Villegas, ProColombia Exports VP.
The Colombian Chamber of Construction – CAMACOL – as organizer entity of Expocamacol 2016, reports that during two days of the Fair, the grounds of Plaza Mayor admitted 20,552 visitors. With this flow of attendees, between 55,000 and 60,000 total visitors were expected throughout the event.
“Expocamacol reflects the innovation and development of products and services in the construction sector and building activity value chain. We are optimistic and confident that 2016 will be fruitful for Expocamacol exhibitors and investors present at the fair,” said Eduardo Loaiza Posada, Manager of CAMACOL Antioquia.
