PERU – In July 2018 Peruvian imports of particleboard / MDP amounted to USD 9.7 million, a strong increase of 24.2% compared to the same month of 2017 (USD 7.6 million).
With a notable increase of 104.8%, Chile stood out in July as the main particleboard / MDP supplier country to the important Peruvian market with USD 3.8 million (2017: USD 1.9 million). Followed by Ecuador, with USD 3.0 million (2017: USD 3.8 million), Spain, with USD 1.5 million and Brazil, with USD 1.3 million.
Peruvian imports of particleboard / MDP of Chilean origin showed the highest growth in July.
The main importer in July 2018 was again Novopan Peru with USD 3.0 million (2017: USD 3.6 million). This figure represents a drop of 15.3% and a market share of 31.0% over the total imports of particleboard / MDP in the country in the period (2017: 45.4%), a decrease of more than 14 percentage points compared to July 2017 imports share. Arauco Peru followed with USD 1.9 million, achieving a strong growth of 50.8% and a 20.3% share of the total imported in the month.
Pisopak Peru was the company whose imports fell the most, going from USD 381 thousand registered in July 2017 to USD 253 thousand in July 2018 (-33.4%).
