PERU – In the January – November 2018 period ((11M-2018) Peruvian imports of PB / MDP amounted to USD 94.17 million, which represented a strong increase of 27.8% compared to the same period of 2017 (11M-2017: USD 73.67 million).

With a significant increase of 24.6% and USD 35.92 million (11M-2017: USD 28.84 million), Ecuador stood out in 11M-2018 as the main PB / MDP supplier country to the relevant Peruvian market. Followed by Chile, with USD 28.53 million (11M-2017: USD 23.80 million).

With an increase of 39.6%, Spain was the supplier country that grew the most, with USD 14.50 million (11M-2017: USD 10.39 million) slightly above Brazil, which reached USD 14.02 million (+ 37.7%).

The main importer in 11M-2018 was again Novopan Peru with USD 35.01 million (11M-2017: USD 27.61 million). This represented a significant increase of 26.8% and a 37.1% share of total Peruvian imports of PB / MDP in the period, a slight decrease of 0.4 percentage points compared to 11M-2017 (37.5%).

Arauco Peru followed with USD 14.66 million, which represented a growth of 10.0% and a 15.6% share of the total imported in the period (11M-2017: 18.1%). Interforest was the only company whose imports fell, going from USD 4.79 million registered in 11M-2017 to USD 4.12 million in 11M-2018 (-14.0%).
