Peruvian Imports of Particleboard  Decline 13.5% in 2023

PERU – Imports of particleboard (PB/MDP) to Peru amounted to a total value of USD 140.11 million in 2023, marking a decline of 13.5% compared to 2022 (USD 161.94 million).

1070PERU During 2023, Novopan Peru continued to lead PB/MDP imports into the Peruvian market, totaling USD 70.83 million, representing an increase of 2.3% in comparison to the previous year (2022: USD 69.21 million). Notably, Novopan Peru was the only one among the top three PB/MDP importers to Peru to increase purchases in 2023.

Representaciones Martin imported PB/MDP worth USD 29.62 million, a decrease of 14.2% compared to the previous year (2022: USD 34.54 million). Followed by Arauco Peru with USD 14.88 million (-5.8%), Maderas America with USD 10.84 million (+5.7%), and Masisa Peru with USD 3.24 million (-68.5%).

Once again, Ecuador remained the primary supplying country of PB/MDP to the Peruvian market in 2023, with shipments totaling USD 72.26 million, marking a 2.8% increase compared to 2022 (USD 70.29 million). Ecuador’s share of total Peruvian PB / MDP imports in 2023 was 51.6% compared to 43.4% in 2022, an improvement of 8.2 percentage points.

Spain retained its position as the second supplier country in importance in 2023, with USD 29.64  million, despite experiencing a 15.4% decrease compared to the USD 35.06 million exported to Peru in 2022.

Chile followed as the third-largest supplier country 2023, with USD 19.33  million, despite a decrease of 25.0% compared to 2022 (USD 25.78 million).

Brazil followed with USD 16.66 million (2022: USD 23.60 million). Experiencing the most significant decrease among the main PB/MDP supplier countries to the Peruvian market in 2023, with a decline of 29.4%.
