BRAZIL – On June 29, the international team of Sindmóveis receives in Bento Gonçalves a delegation with about 20 Peruvian manufacturers of furniture and accessories.
During this mission, visitors had the opportunity to learn about the manufacturing process used by companies based in the area, since they are a benchmark for technology and processes in Latin America. Also the visitors received information about the role of the association and its products.
Peru has stood out in the economic growth in Latin America in recent years and it is considered by the World Bank as one of the best business environments in the area. As Peru’s furniture industry does not meet the local demand, furniture imports are high. In 2014 Peru was the second largest market for furniture exporters based in Bento Gonçalves, totaling USD 5.78 million.
However, there was decrease of 25.8% over the previous year. In the first quarter of 2015, Peru was the main foreign market for furniture made in Bento Gonçalves, an increase of over 50% over the previous year, despite the overall decline in exports faced by the Brazilian furniture industry.
