Peru’s particleboard imports up 6.9%

PERU – In the first eight months of 2016 Peruvian particleboard / MDP imports reached USD 49.2 million, an increase of 6.9% compared to the same period of 2015.

mercados 201609 2 The main importer was Novopan Peru with USD 20,8 million (2015: USD 19.3 MILLON) and a 42.3% share of total imports of particleboard / MDP to the country. Followed by Arauco Peru with imports of USD 10.1 million (2015: 10.0 million) and a market share of 20.6% (2015: 21.8%) of total imports.

During the January – August 2016 period new importers have emerged, such as Tableros Peruanos with imports of USD 1,8 million and 3.6% share of total imports and Pisopak, with USD 1.6 million and a share of 3.3% of total imports of particleboard during the period.

Ecuador remained the top supplier country of origin, with a share of 44.4% of total imports in the period, followed by Chile with 34.5% and Spain with 11.9%. Among the supplying countries Brazil makes a strong debut in 2016, reaching 8.7% share of total imports between January and August this year.
