Peru’s particleboard imports down 12.7% in 2015

PERU – Particleboard (MDP) imports into the Peruvian market reached USD 69.3 million in 2015 compared to USD 79.4 million in 2014.

Novopan Peru maintained its position as the main particleboard importer reaching USD 30.9 million last year compared to USD 32.4 million in 2014. Although Novopan Peru’s imports were down 4.5%, it was able to increase its share of total imports by 3.8 percentage points reaching a 44.5% share of imports (2014: 40.7%). 

Arauco Peru maintained the second position with imports of USD 16.3 million last year compared to USD 21.7 million in 2014 that represented a decrease of 25% and a loss of 3.9 percentage points in its share of imports from a 27.4% share in 2014 to 23.5% in 2015.

Grupo Martin was the third main importer with USD 9.3 million in 2015 and the only one of the main importers that increased its imports (+22.2%) while gaining 3.8 percentage points in its share of imports. Masisa Peru lost its 2014 position as the third importer with a decrease of 34.1% reaching USD 8.7 million (2014: USD 13.2 million) and a drop of 4.1 percentage points in its share of total imports.
