Peru: panel imports reach USD 78 million in first eight months of 2013

PERU (Notifix).-  Peruvian imports of composite panels reached USD 78.3 million in the January to August period. Particleboard (PB)/MDP and MDF/HDF imports totaled USD 56.2 (71.7%) and 22.1 (28.3%) million respectively.

The main PB/MDP supplying country in the period was Ecuador with shipments of USD 24.4 million and a 43.5% share of total Peruvian PB/MDP imports. Followed by Chile with USD 23 million (40.9%), Spain USD 4.6 million (8.2%) and Portugal 3 million (5.4%).

During the period the main PB/MDP importing company was Novopan Peru with purchases for USD 22.1 million and a 39.3% share of imports. Followed by Arauco (21.5%), Masisa (19.4%) and Representaciones Martin (9.4%).

On the MDF/HDF side the main supplying country was by far Chile with shipments of USD 14.7 million and a 66.4% share of total peruvian MDF imports. Followed by Turkey USD 2.6 million (11.8%), Uruguay USD 1.8 (8.2%) million and Ecuador USD 1.1 million (4.9%).

The main MDF importing company in the period was Arauco Peru with purchases of USD 9.9 million and a 44.6% share of total imports. Followed by Masisa Peru (17.3%) and Representaciones Martin (15.4%).
