PERU – In the first two months of 2017 Peruvian particleboard (MDP) imports fell 4.6% to USD 9,953,852 (2016: USD 10,433,108).
In the January – February 2017 period, Chile was the main supplier of MDP boards to the Peruvian market with orders for USD 3,964,693. Even though it was the main supplier country in the period, sales of Chilean MDP to the Peruvian market presented a sharp drop of 15.5% compared to USD 4,693,474 in the same period of 2016. Ecuador was the second supplier country in the period but also with a significant decrease of 16.9% in the first two months. Spain and Brazil followed with shipments of USD 1,636,532 and USD 1,061,287 respectively and Brazil showed by the highest growth in the period.
Regarding importing companies, Novopan Peru was again the main importer of particleboard, although with a 14.6% drop in purchases from USD 3,648,385 in the first two months of 2016 to USD 3,144,307 in same period 2017. Followed by Arauco Peru with USD 2,178,811 and Masisa Peru with USD 1,794,020.
