CHILE (Notifix).- Chile exported in the period January-May 2013 MDF, including moldings, for close to $130 million (fob). The U.S. takes the largest portion with a 45.2% share of total exports (USD 58,644,409), followed by Mexico with 17.6%, Canada with 9.4%, Colombia with 8.5% and Peru with 7.8%. The other destinations imported values below 5% of total exports.

Chilean MDF Exports Given recent events, that will make Mexico (the second foreign market Chilean MDF) a large-scale producer of MDF, it will be interesting to see how the Chilean manufacturers, Arauco and Masisa, face this situation. Lets keep in mind that Masisa announced this week a new MDF plant to be built in Durango with an installed capacity of 200,000 m3/year and that Mexico’s Proteak, is structuring a forestry project, including a MDF plant in the state of Tabasco.
