MEXICO – Mexican fiberboard imports reached USD 150.1 million in 2017 and were down 14.5%, compared to USD 175.6 million in 2016.
Brazil was again the main wood fiberboard supplying country to the important Mexican market with USD 61.7 million, an increase of 3.2% compared to USD 59.8 million the prior year. Brazil’s share of total Mexican fiberboard imports reached 41.1% in 2017 (2016: 34%).
Chile, with USD 28.2 million, down 37% compared to 2016 (USD 44.8 million), was the second fiberboard supplier to Mexico. The United States was the third main supplying country with USD 25.4 million (2016: USD 31.2 million).
Next were China with USD 11.5 million (2016: USD 12.5 million), Germany with USD 7.7 million (2016:USD 8.7 million) and Canada with USD 3.8 million (2016:USD 4.4 million).
The main Brazilian fiberboard supplying company to the Mexican market in 2017 was Arauco Do Brasil with 33.3 million and Berneck with USD 10.2 million.
The main fiberboard Mexican importer in 2017 was Araucomex with USD 47.9 million, an increase of 2.6% compared with 2016 (USD 47.6 million).
