GERMANY – From 2027, LIGNA will undergo a strategic shift in its schedule.

1063LIGNA Breaking away from the customary period over Ascension Day, the woodworking trade fair will now be held in odd-numbered years, detached from the public holiday, in spring in Hanover, Germany. The decision, jointly made by LIGNA organizers Deutsche Messe AG and VDMA Woodworking Machinery, aims to address changes in visitor behavior during the Ascension Day week. LIGNA 2027 is scheduled from Monday, May 10, to Friday, May 14, and LIGNA 2029 from Monday, May 14, to Friday, May 18. The date for LIGNA 2025 remains unchanged, taking place over Ascension Day from Monday, May 26, to Friday, May 30.

VDMA Woodworking Machinery views the rescheduling as crucial for efficiency, ensuring optimal use of time for both exhibitors and visitors. Dr. Bernhard Dirr, Managing Director of VDMA Woodworking Machinery, stresses the importance of spreading visitors evenly across all days to enhance the trade fair experience.

Considering international visitor synergies with interzum in Cologne, LIGNA has strategically scheduled its dates. LIGNA 2027 will precede interzum, and from 2029, both events will run concurrently. This synchronized approach aims to facilitate balanced and time-efficient visits for international attendees, contributing to the average length of stay at European trade fairs.

LIGNA dates from 2025 to 2029 are as follows:

LIGNA 2025: Monday, May 26, to Friday, May 30, in Hanover (unchanged)

LIGNA 2027: Monday, May 10, to Friday, May 14, in Hanover (new)

LIGNA 2029: Monday, May 14, to Friday, May 18, in Hanover (new)
