USA – The Wood Machinery Manufacturers of America (WMMA) and the Woodworking Machinery Industry Association (WMIA) will merge to create a new organization, the Wood Industry Association (WIA).
The new group’s mission will be to promote the business interests of all those engaged in the manufacture and distribution of woodworking machinery and ancillary equipment in North America.
According to the WMMA newsletter, “We will continue to own and manage the International Woodworking Fair (IWF) through our tenured IWF staff in Atlanta; and WIA will continue the tradition of hosting the Woodworking Industry Conference (WIC) each Spring.”
For over 120 years, the Wood Machinery Manufacturers of America (WWMA) has worked to increase the productivity and profitability of U.S. woodworking machinery and woodworking tools manufacturers and the businesses that support them. Over that time, WMMA has dedicated itself to the advancement of the U.S. woodworking industry and wood industry, with wood education training, wood industry research, support of woodworking shows, and diverse member programs and services.
Since 1978, the Woodworking Machinery Industry Association (WMIA) has represented importers and distributors of woodworking machinery and ancillary equipment in North America. WMIA is the recognized voice of importers and distributors, and serves as a vital communications link between suppliers and manufacturers of wood products in North America.
