COLOMBIA – In the first half of 2024, wooden furniture imports in Latin America reached a total of USD 368.49 million, marking a significant growth of 34% compared to USD 274.97 million in the same period of 2023.
Mexico led the region with the highest import value at USD 126.88 million, reflecting a robust increase of 44.6% from the previous year. Chile followed with USD 57.66 million, also showing strong growth at 26.6%.
Positive performances included Colombia, with imports rising to USD 17.26 million (up 23%), and Costa Rica, which saw a remarkable increase to USD 17.22 million, representing a growth of 40%. Meanwhile, Guatemala experienced the most dramatic rise, surging by 177.1% to USD 20.50 million.
On the other hand, several countries faced declines. Bolivia saw a sharp decrease of 42.8%, dropping to USD 2.07 million, and Argentina’s imports fell by 8.2% to USD 1.75 million. Despite these setbacks, the overall trend in the region indicates an important recovery and expansion in the wooden furniture sector, underscored by Venezuela’s 294.9% growth to USD 10.14 million.
This diverse landscape reflects both challenges and opportunities in Latin America’s furniture import market. Brazil and China were by far the main supplying countries in the period.
